Knives

Get the knife archive and extract it. Typically you'll find v_, p_, and w_ model files inside, along with sounds and textures.

1. Back up the original files you're going to replace.
2. Put the model files into cstrike/models.
3. Put sounds into cstrike/sound/weapons and textures into cstrike/models if the archive has them.
4. Launch the game and select the knife.

If your game folder is localized, use cstrike_russian instead - files there take priority.

Every knife model goes into cstrike/models. The v_ file is what you see in first person, p_ is the knife in the player's hands as seen by others, and w_ is the knife on the ground.

Most knife packs replace the standard files, so the names must match the originals. If the archive uses custom names, check the included readme - some models need to be renamed to the default names before they work.

Verify the files are in the correct folder: cstrike/models, and in cstrike_russian/models if you use a localized version.

• Ensure the file names match what the game expects, otherwise the model is ignored.
• Check that the archive was fully extracted and no file is corrupted.
• Restart the game after copying the files.

If the model still doesn't appear, another copy of the same file might be in a different mod folder and overriding it.

A crash typically indicates a broken or incompatible model file. Remove the knife files you added and restore your backup copies from cstrike/models.

• Download the archive again - the download may have been incomplete.
• Install one model at a time to identify the file causing the crash.
• Don't mix files from different knife packs under the same name.

Knife sounds go into cstrike/sound/weapons. Keep the original file names so the game can find them, and overwrite the existing files after making a backup.

If the archive has its own folder structure, keep it exactly as is - the paths inside cstrike/sound must match the ones the game uses.

Restore the original v_, p_ and w_ knife files in cstrike/models from your backup, or delete the custom files so the game falls back to its own copies.

If you replaced sounds, restore them in cstrike/sound/weapons the same way. After that, restart the game.

Knife models are client-side, so you see them on your screen, but a server can replace them with its own files or kick you for file mismatch (consistency).

On servers with strict file checking, custom models and sounds may not work at all. If you get kicked after joining, remove the custom knife files and try again.

The inspect animation is part of the model itself - it plays when the knife is idle and the character turns it in hand. You don't install it separately; it comes with the v_ model file.

If the animation doesn't play, the model was installed incorrectly or the file is damaged.
