Grenades

Unpack the archive, then move the model files into the cstrike/models directory of your game. Should your build use a localized folder like cstrike_russian, copy the files there too, since that folder takes precedence. Make copies of the original files beforehand so you can restore them afterwards.

Every one of these files goes into cstrike/models. The first-person view model is v_*.mdl, the model shown in a player's hands is p_*.mdl, and the one resting on the ground is w_*.mdl. Leave the original file names untouched so the game swaps out the default models.

No menu exists for choosing grenade models - they take the place of the default files, so the game loads them on its own. Purchase a grenade and hold it to view the new v_ model; the p_ model shows up in players' hands. If nothing changes, the file names don't match the defaults.

• Verify that the file names exactly match the default ones.
• Confirm the files weren't placed only in cstrike when your game relies on cstrike_russian.
• Delete the custom files or bring back your backup if the game crashes.

Remove the custom files from cstrike/models and restore the originals from your backup. If you're on Steam, you can also use "Verify integrity of game files" to bring back the defaults. Also look in the localized folder if your version has one.

Custom grenade models are client-side, meaning only you see them in your own game. Certain servers might kick players over file-consistency mismatches, while others swap in their own models. On servers that require default files, your custom models might not show up or could get you disconnected.

Counter-Strike 1.6 lacks a weapon-inspect feature, so no key exists to trigger an inspect animation. Any animations built into the model can only run during sequences the engine already uses, like draw and idle.
