USP

Extract the downloaded archive and move the .mdl files to your game folder cstrike/models, overwriting the default USP files when asked. If your game uses the localized folder cstrike_russian, place the files there instead, as its files take precedence. Before replacing anything, back up the original files. Once copied, launch the game and select the USP to verify the change.

Weapon models go in cstrike/models. The USP replacement typically includes v_usp.mdl, p_usp.mdl and w_usp.mdl, which must retain these exact filenames for the game to recognize them. Avoid making additional subfolders for them. If you use a localized version, use cstrike_russian/models.

• v_usp.mdl - the model you see in first person, in your own hands.
• p_usp.mdl - the model other players see in your hands.
• w_usp.mdl - the model of the pistol lying on the ground.

A full USP replacement pack usually contains all three files, but you can swap only the ones you need.

Verify that the files are in cstrike/models (or cstrike_russian/models) and that the names are exactly v_usp.mdl, p_usp.mdl, w_usp.mdl in lowercase, with the .mdl extension. Ensure the old files were truly overwritten and not saved alongside them under a different name. If the model still appears default on a server, the server might be enforcing its own files.

Custom weapon models are client-side, so on many public servers they work and only you see the new look. However, some servers replace client files with their own or run in a mode that enforces server files, and then your USP will look standard or the connection may be rejected for file mismatch. For local play and on your own server there is no such limitation.

Remove the custom v_usp.mdl, p_usp.mdl and w_usp.mdl from cstrike/models (and from cstrike_russian/models if present), then restore the backup copies you made before installation. If you have no backup, verify the game files through your game client to download the originals again, or copy the default models from a clean installation.

Remove the new files from cstrike/models and put the original USP models back to confirm that the model is the cause. A crash usually means the .mdl file is corrupted, incomplete, or not a valid Counter-Strike model, so re-download it from another source. Also make sure you did not rename the files or mix models from different packs, and that only one version of each file exists in the folder.
